The other aspect of it that surprised me was the sense of danger.
The human body is annoyingly between the two – bendy enough to be a problem, but not so bendy to make it easy. A solid object or a very squishy object would be easy to suspend. Now try doing it when a handful of the ropes have 100 to 200 pounds of weight pressing down on them. Getting rope bondage both tight and comfortable when people are lying down on a bed is difficult enough. I felt less like a bondage model and more like a side of beef. It looks so elegant and effortless in pictures, but they sheer weight and physical effort needed is amazing. You’re suddenly aware of just how heavy a human is when you try and suspend them safely with a bunch of rope. The reality was far tougher and more challenging than I ever expected. I’ve done rock climbing, abseiling, regular bondage and hung off all sorts of ropes and swings. In a similar way I thought I knew what to expect from suspension bondage. We all know what its like to get hit or stuck with a needle. The kinky dynamic around those activities can my mind-blowing but the sensation not surprising. Being caned, whipped, shocked or pierced feels pretty much as you’d expect from lived experience. Most kinky activities are unusual things to do voluntarily, but not entirely novel sensations. I find it an interesting activity because the reality is so different from the expectation. This one is just a random grab-bag of thoughts from my limited experiences with it. Here’s a final post (for now) on the topic of suspension bondage. Author paltego Posted on NovemTags Artwork, Fm, Strap-on 2 Comments on Being a Bottom In the Jungle If you’d like to see more of her art, then her Patreon is here. “That said, I really loved pegging my ex-boyfriend – who was also my dom – and it didn’t take away from my submissiveness at all.”Īrtwork is by the always fabulous artist Yumine Guo via this tweet. “I have always been submissive in bed, to the point where being dominant makes me feel extremely uncomfortable,” she tells me. Jessica, a 28-year-old submissive woman from Manchester who also likes to don strap-ons, explains that pegging does not have to be a part of power play at all. There’s a nice example of that in the article, where pegging can simple be an act giving/receiving pleasurable sensation. That gets away from the confusion that often comes with conflating bottoming with penetration or submission.
The best and simplest definition I’ve always liked for a bottom is the one who receives sensation. Refinery29 recently published an article entitled – ‘ What Does It Really Mean To Be A Bottom?” I don’t think it really answers the question it poses itself in the title, but it does raise some interesting points. Author paltego Posted on MaTags Bondage, Fm, Photograph, Strap-on 4 Comments on Getting Medieval Santa’s Lap This is obviously from Kink’s Men In Pain. It’s just not one a medieval judge might recognize. Which isn’t to say the present day hasn’t got a use for the pillory. I guess the modern equivalent would be getting ratio’d on twitter. This punishment was intended to humiliate and expose the wrongdoer – physically they received little harm, perhaps some sore muscles and a bit of smoke inhalation If you want to find kinks that link back to medieval times then it’s not elaborate torture devices you should be looking for, but good old fashioned humiliation.įor example, several bakers who committed fraud were sentenced to spend a few hours bound up in the pillory, where they had their fake bread burnt under them. It was just a lot more straightforward than modern stories would have you believe. That’s not to say that people of the period didn’t use torture. They were either invented a long time before (like the rack) or made up later (like the pear of anguish). According to this article, almost everything you think of as medieval torture wasn’t actually medieval. For fans of dungeons and traditional medieval tortures I have some bad news.
